For this mini lesson Oliver B. asked us to call this number and tell him about the one that got away, or an opportunity that got away. What I learned from this mini project was about how you can get other people's ideas to create unique art. This was successful because I was able to collaborate with another artist to create something. One thing I would change however, would be to take an actual picture of myself calling in and not having to just take a photo of my call history.
For Artist Solves Problems I decided to paint a picture of snowy mountains over a sunset. The problem I was solving with this project was to mix paint and paint with only my finger, which would be limited materials. Some obstacles I had to over come was how difficult it was to blend out the sunset with fingers. Also, having to mix the paint was proven to be a struggle because it got very messy and sometimes leftover colors on my hands would mix into another. I Developed My Art Making Skills I developed my art making skills because I learned how to mix colors more efficiently and effectively. Having to use my hands to mix colors made me think more about the colors I was using and how to mix them to make the exact color I wanted. I also learned how to create texture and a scenery image while making this artwork. I realized that I could use my finger to create the mountain texture. I know this can help me in the future because I will be able to showcase the reality of an image.
To the right is my object art. What I learned from this was how you can expand your imagination by challenging yourself of using some object and making it into art work. This piece is successful because I used an eraser tip that I found outside, and used it to be the place where the tie is tied on a shirt. However if i had the chance to do it better I would probably add more detail and color.
This is my newspaper art to the left, what I learned from this project is that you can use other ideas from other projects (the monster ink) and create something completely different. This piece is successful because it uses the splattered ink to create a dress, and it is ontop of newspapers. However, If i could do it again, I would use darker maker because you can tell the difference.
What I learned from this mini lesson, Styrogami, was about how you can use different materials do twist something like orogami. For my Styrogami I decided to cut out a pumpkin face and then paint it orange. This piece is successful because it is made out of Styrofoam and represents a jack-o-lantern. However if i could do something different I would probably spend a little more time on the cutting out, so that the lines look cleaner and nicer all together.
Pinterest Board- http://www.pinterest.com/mckenna0125/artist-steal/ I Take Risks- For my Ariel Project for the Artist Steal I took the risk of using chalk pastel. I thought that since chalk pastel blends very well it would make the water and gunk, and Ariel herself look very realistic. The risk though, is that I didn't really know how to use the material that well. We had only just learned how, and it was not on a project as big as this. Using chalk pastel could have turned out as a complete disaster and not have made the picture come out looking pretty decent, that's why this material was a big risk for me. I Developed My Art Making Skills- Throughout this project, I improved and developed how I create and view art. this project helped me learn how to make chalk pastel look better and better. Also how to clean up your mistakes. this project helped me lean to use coloring and shading. The tires proved to be difficult because I had to use multiple different colors that were very similar, but i had trouble trying to identify where all of the lines and everything were.
For the Artist Steal Mini Lesson- The Daily Monster I drew around the spread out ink to create a monster/butterfly. What I learned from this lesson was the way of using ink to expand how you view things and how you can use the different materials. This piece is successful because it uses the ink outline but made it my own monster. If I did have the chance to do it again though I would probably be more picky with my choices and think more about what I am putting down.
For the Artist Steal Mini Lesson-Stencil i chose to stencil out Repunzle from Tangled. What I learned from this project was how to understand how to make the picture posterized and ready to stencil, and how to make your stencil look the best it can be. This piece is successful because it is a one layer stencil and shows the image clear enough. But if I could change one thing it would be the eyes because I messed up in the beginning and got very confused, which made me miss some detail.
The picture in the post is the painting I did for the character remix. I combined Olaf from Frozen, and Mike from Monsters Inc. From this project I learned how to mix the acrylic paint together to make the different colors. Also how to draw how I see it and now how I imagined it. This peice is successful because it shows both sides of each character without overpowering the others. However, if I could change anything Ii would probably change the amount of mistakes I made because I went to fast.
