The point of this class in my opinion was to learn how to get better at art, and how to understand the techniques to make it not as scary to draw, paint, sketch, and shape our pieces. Essentially, I think the point with this class is to try and get the basics of your own art to the best it can be. What i got out of this class is how to draw what looks like complex pictures, by simplifying my thought process. Simplifying includes looking at the different shapes as individuals and then adding detail later. The pictures of my artwork below show some of the drawings that a year ago I would not have been able to do, but now after this art class I am able too.
7. What was the point of this class? What did you get out of it?

2. What is Artistic Style?
Artist style is basically the kind of art that one artist as an individual likes to do or relate their artwork back too. Some artistic styles can be based to history, a type of median, how they accomplish their work, the colors, other people, irony etc. While taking Art One with Mrs. Sudkamp, we learned a lot about the artistic styles that we could use in our own. The picture below was artist style based on cubism, used by a lot of famous artist in the past and present. In my opinion artist style can say a lot about how the artist is themselves. Such as if they did it based on history they would most likely like history and the mysteries it has in store. 1. What is art?
Art is something that can be interpreted in hundreds of thousands different ways. For me, art means expressing yourself creatively through anything, from drawing and painting to singing and dancing. Art can express things deeper than just a visual impact, because with art you can show irony, or show problems happening in the world today. Throughout this art class we had to learn how to convey what would originally be put out as words into something people can see, and visualize the effects. I feel like art is something that can change a person's view on a subject because it is worth something more than just saying something, it can affect your senses and how you view different things. What I learned from the Art Journal is how to use multiple medians and techniques. We were taught how to use gel median, tissue paper, how to make collages, stencils, bubble wrap prints etc. This piece is successful because it uses my word (clouds) and it uses the different techniques that we were taught throughout this lesson. One thing I would change however would be to make my clouds and writing a bit neater.
The reason I chose the piece I did because I thought that it involved a lot of room for my own ideas to change it to my liking. The bright colors and flow of the piece drew me to it essentially though. Within the original artwork was a sort of "flowing" kind of look, so I decided to incorporate that loose feeling. While doing other projects with watercolors I had noticed that the colors would run if I turned it up right, and that is how I chose to do the project I did. I TAKE RISKS- For the Artist Curate main project we had to take inspiration from another piece of artwork from NCMA. My chosen artwork was 'Laughing Clouds'. With this project I took the risk of using water color. This may not seem like a big risk, but I had not used this material for a main project ever, and I had never used that much of it either. At first I wasn't quite sure if I wanted too, for that reason, but then I realized that to make my art look the absolute best it would have to be watercolor. In the end I discovered techniques for using watercolor, and became more familiar with it. I SOLVE PROBLEMS- While working on my artwork I faced a series of problems, like how a normal piece would be. One of the more major problems is that when i turned my artwork up, the water would just go everywhere instead of a few different places. The reason this is a bigger one is because if they just went everywhere the dark colors such as blue, would dominate the lighter colors such as yellow. I eventually fixed this by making a system where I would put a thin layer of water and let it run, dry, and then I would repeat it. In this mini lesson for artist curate, called artist style, I learned a lot about the history of art. I learned how to portray cubism to impact the modern day. I also learned how to take random objects and make them art. This piece is successful because it shows cubism and my object which was a hammer. However if i could do it again i would change the designs and patterns because some of the colors don't match up to my liking. In the artist curate destruction mini lesson I learned many things. One of those things was that you can make new art out of old art. That you can change it it you want to, or if you don't like it. This peice is successful because it chaned something i don't like into something completely different. However if i could do it again I would probably make the colors richer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6qe4vjQX6s I worked on the Stop Motion Animation with Christian, Will, and Victor. Will and Victor mainly drew the play by play while Christian and I worked on taking the pictures. We collaborated by combing our ideas to make a stop motion animation project. We had to get all our ideas together and then plan out how we would make it run smoothly. Then we got to the actual project and had to collaborate ,by drawing out and taking pictures, to make our final product. I Take Risks While planning out our video we tried many different techniques to draw on. But none of them seemed to work because they were very small and hard to redraw. We decided to try out the whiteboard, unsure if it would actually look decent and if it would work. We started going along and found out that the white board proved to be a challenge but it was also something that helped us a lot. Drawing out our picture on the white board was probably our biggest risk. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COnYLNWmj_Q
Above is the link for my group's stop picture animation film for the mini lesson. Throughout this piece I learned how to create a stop motion picture and also how to make it flow smoothly. This piece is successful because I worked together with my group to create a video with 130+ pictures. We figured out how to redraw it and make it look like it was just one image. If I was able to do things again though, I would probably make it so we had a camera stand or a tripod so that the camera angle wasn't moving all around. For this mini lesson we had to make origami for another art class. What I learned from this project was the ways to make origami and how to make it easier, also how to work together to help out on the art. This piece was successful because we got the origami fortune tellers and they will turn into someones artwork. If I could do something different however, I think I would choose better colors and be a little bit neater.
