The reason I chose the piece I did because I thought that it involved a lot of room for my own ideas to change it to my liking. The bright colors and flow of the piece drew me to it essentially though. Within the original artwork was a sort of "flowing" kind of look, so I decided to incorporate that loose feeling. While doing other projects with watercolors I had noticed that the colors would run if I turned it up right, and that is how I chose to do the project I did.
I TAKE RISKS-
For the Artist Curate main project we had to take inspiration from another piece of artwork from NCMA. My chosen artwork was 'Laughing Clouds'. With this project I took the risk of using water color. This may not seem like a big risk, but I had not used this material for a main project ever, and I had never used that much of it either. At first I wasn't quite sure if I wanted too, for that reason, but then I realized that to make my art look the absolute best it would have to be watercolor. In the end I discovered techniques for using watercolor, and became more familiar with it.
I SOLVE PROBLEMS-
While working on my artwork I faced a series of problems, like how a normal piece would be. One of the more major problems is that when i turned my artwork up, the water would just go everywhere instead of a few different places. The reason this is a bigger one is because if they just went everywhere the dark colors such as blue, would dominate the lighter colors such as yellow. I eventually fixed this by making a system where I would put a thin layer of water and let it run, dry, and then I would repeat it.
